National speaker Jeff Mangrum is the guest for Lakeview Health’s free July lecture titled, “The Hero’s Journey: Legendary Leadership, Client Engagement and the Power of Storytelling,” on Friday, July 28, 9 a.m. to noon. The event is part of the monthly lecture series, which is free and open to the public, taking place at Lakeview Health’s conference center, 1900 Corporate Square Blvd., Jacksonville. Mangrum, national accounts director of Cornerstone Recovery, will lead the discussion on identifying a client’s key transition points in the journey to recovery.
Mangrum adapted his presentation, “The Hero’s Journey,” from the teachings of Joseph Campbell’s 1949 body of research titled, “The Hero with a Thousand Faces.” In that work, he showed that heroes in myth, legend, folktale and religious parable must follow a six-step process to succeed. Mangrum has adapted this concept and created his interactive multimedia presentation to help behavioral health clinicians improve their case management skills and better identify a patient’s key transition points in their path to recovery.
